Lap Numbers, Start Times, Parking

Greeting Racers! Only 2 days until the Leverich Canyon CrankuP!

We've made a few changes to lap numbers and start times:

Cat 1 Men: 4 laps
Cat 1 Women (read: Lisa): 3 laps
Cat 2: 2 laps
Cat 3: 1 lap
Single-Speed: 2 laps

Also, we've changed start times to avoid Cat 1 and Cat 3 riders on the downhill section at the same time. Start times are as follows:

Cat 1: 10 am
Cat 2: 10:05
Cat 3: 10:10

Remember that parking is going to be tight. Carpool if at all possible. Unless you show up very early, expect to park along the main road leading to the start/finish area. Parking attendants will be present.

Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to park, register, and get settled. Registration opens at 8am.

As a reminder, here are directions to the start/finish area:

Hope to see you all there! Expect a great race with tons of schwag including great beginner's prizes!

Random Update

It is less then one week till the race start! Just about everything is ready to go. Julie rode the course yesterday and it is in great shape. We will be pre-riding the course on tuesday with the race official to identify any problem areas to mark. We will have Crema coffee on hand. This will be great for those who camp the night before. We have two sound systems online. The mild temperatures we have been having should be great for race day. I believe we are still considering if the the expert class should be 3 or 4 laps. We will be making a final publicity push this week. Get the word out if you can. A large beginer field would be great. All the work is coming together. We are hoping to get cory on the mic to MC. Ready, Set, Go!

Don't forget the Beignets!

Thursday, July 16, 2009

A map of the LCCP course is now available. The start will feature about 1 mile of undulating road before hitting the Leverich connector trail. After another 3/4 mile of technical riding, the course descends rapidly on the Leverich elevator trail. (This trail is literally a downhill trail. Expect bermed corners and other downhiller 'features') Just past mile 3, the course joins the Leverich escalator trail for a 3-mile climb back to the top. (Opportunities to pass do exist - keep your eyes open!) After the last lap, the race will follow dirt road back to the start/finish area. Expect a slight uphill finish!

Single Speeders (sic)

I've ridden the course bout 5 times now on my single speed. On my 29er 32-19 gearing seems ok. I did see Andrew blast up it with 34-18 on his 9er though.....

Trail Maintainence

A few weeks ago the Mules embarked on a trail work day for the race course. A trail maintenence day was organized by the GVBC and we came along for the ride. The trail is coming along nicely now. Two bridges have been added at stream crossings. The berms on the downhill have been improved

A view of the Bridgers from the top of the course.

A new Bridge at the connector trail.
